Smart Home Installation Options for Sydney Homes
We install and commission the leading smart home systems available in Australia — from hardwired whole-home automation to wireless smart lighting upgrades. Every system is designed around how you actually use your home, not a generic template.
Clipsal C-Bus Smart Lighting
Australia's most trusted hardwired home automation platform. C-Bus operates on its own dedicated two-wire data network installed alongside your standard electrical cabling during construction. Every switch, dimmer, sensor, and output module communicates across this network — giving you a system that's inherently more reliable, faster, and more expandable than any wireless alternative.
The C-Bus ecosystem includes: DIN rail dimmer and relay modules, Wiser Air and standard keypads, touch screens, PIR occupancy sensors, daylight sensors, DIN rail power supplies, and a PC Interface for programming. Every component is designed and manufactured by Clipsal (Schneider Electric) to work as a single cohesive system — not a mix of third-party devices.
Best for: New builds, major renovations, and homes where you want maximum reliability and long-term value.

Apple Home Integration
Apple Home is the control layer that sits on top of your physical smart home system — whether that's C-Bus, Wiser Air, KNX, or Dynalite. Once integrated, your entire home becomes part of the Apple ecosystem: controllable from every iPhone, iPad, Mac, Apple Watch, and HomePod in your household, and operable by anyone in the family through Siri voice commands.
The Apple Home ecosystem includes: iPhone and iPad as control interfaces, Apple Watch for wrist-based control, HomePod mini or Apple TV 4K as the home hub (enabling remote access, automations, and Siri even when you're away), CarPlay for gate and garage control as you pull into your driveway, and Siri on every Apple device for natural language voice control. All automation logic runs locally on your home hub — not on Apple's servers — meaning your home responds in milliseconds and keeps working when the internet is down.
Best for: Apple users who want a unified, privacy-first smart home experience controllable from every device they already own.

Clipsal Wiser Air
Wiser Air is Clipsal's wireless smart lighting platform — the ideal choice for renovations where running new data cable through finished walls isn't practical. Existing light switches are replaced with Wiser smart switches that look identical to standard switches, adding full Apple Home control without any new cabling.
Best for: Renovations, existing homes, and anyone who wants smart lighting without cable runs through finished walls.

KNX & Dynalite
For high-end residential and commercial projects requiring the most sophisticated level of control and integration, we install and commission KNX and Philips Dynalite systems. Both are hardwired platforms with the flexibility to integrate lighting, HVAC, audio, security, and virtually any building system into one cohesive interface.
Best for: Premium homes and commercial projects requiring advanced multi-system integration and bespoke programming.

Beautiful Switches. Reliable Foundation.

Your Entire Home.
Inside Every Apple Device You Own.
We bridge C-Bus directly to Apple Home — so every light, blind, lock, and camera is controllable from your iPhone, Watch, Mac, and HomePod. Runs locally. Completely private. Works without the internet.

Smart Home Installation — Questions & Answers
Everything Sydney homeowners and builders ask us before committing to a smart home installation.
The terms are used interchangeably in Australia, but there's a useful distinction. "Smart home" typically refers to individual smart devices — smart plugs, smart bulbs, smart speakers — that can be controlled via an app but operate independently of each other. "Home automation" usually describes a more integrated approach where all systems (lighting, climate, blinds, security, AV) are connected to a single platform and can work together intelligently. The systems we install — C-Bus, Wiser Air, KNX — are home automation platforms in the true sense: every device is part of one coherent system, not a collection of separately-controlled gadgets.
The cost varies considerably depending on what you want to automate, how many rooms and circuits are involved, and which system you choose. A wireless Wiser Air upgrade for an existing home typically starts from around $3,000–$6,000. A full hardwired C-Bus system for a new build in Sydney starts from around $8,000–$15,000 for lighting control, and scales up with additional integrations (climate, blinds, security, AV). We provide fixed-price quotes — send us your plans or a description of your project and we'll get back to you within one business day with a detailed, no-obligation quote.
For most Sydney new builds, Clipsal C-Bus remains the best choice. It's the most widely installed home automation system in Australia, has a 30-year installation history, is backed by Schneider Electric, and is fully supported by a large network of trained technicians. Critically, it's a hardwired system installed during construction — which means it's inherently more reliable than wireless systems and won't suffer from the battery failures, radio interference, or range limitations that wireless-only systems can encounter. For premium projects with very complex integration requirements, KNX is an excellent alternative. For renovations where running new cable isn't practical, Clipsal Wiser Air is our first recommendation.
Yes — and it's one of the most popular features we install. All of the systems we work with (C-Bus, Wiser Air, KNX, Dynalite) can be integrated with Apple Home, giving you full iPhone and iPad control, Siri voice commands, location-based automations, and remote access from anywhere in the world. Apple Home runs primarily locally on your home network — it doesn't depend on cloud servers — which means it works fast, works privately, and continues to work even when your internet connection is down (for local control). You'll need an Apple TV, HomePod, or iPad as a home hub for remote access and automations.
As early as possible — ideally at the design phase, before your builder has tendered the electrical scope. Smart home data cable (C-Bus or KNX) needs to be run during the rough-in stage before walls are closed, and the DIN rail cabinet location needs to be planned in the electrical layout. Engaging us early means we can design the system properly, coordinate the cabling scope with your electrician, and attend site at the right milestones. We've worked on projects at every stage — including retrofits after handover — but early involvement always produces the cleanest result at the lowest cost.
A professionally installed and commissioned smart home system is a meaningful value-add for Sydney residential properties, particularly in the $2M+ market where buyers increasingly expect integrated home automation as a standard feature rather than a novelty. C-Bus in particular is well-understood by Sydney buyers and agents as a premium specification that costs far more to retrofit than to install during construction. The key is professional installation and commissioning — a well-programmed, reliable system that works intuitively adds value. A poorly installed system with no documentation can have the opposite effect.
Yes. For renovations where walls are being opened, hardwired C-Bus can be installed exactly as it would be in a new build. For fully intact existing homes where you don't want walls opened, Clipsal Wiser Air is the cleanest option — it replaces existing light switches with smart wireless switches, adding full Apple Home control without any new cabling or wall damage. For existing homes that already have C-Bus installed, we can add Apple Home integration without changing any hardware at all. There's a smart home upgrade path for every situation — contact us and we'll recommend the right approach for your home.
