Clipsal Wiser Discontinued — Upgrade C-Bus to Apple Home | Cync Electrical Sydney
Discontinued Clipsal Wiser Home Controller

Your Wiser is gone.
Your C-Bus is fine.

Schneider Electric has discontinued the Wiser Home Controller — but the wired C-Bus network behind it is current, supported hardware. We remove the dead gateway and give your home a modern Apple Home interface instead.

Quick answer

Is the Clipsal Wiser discontinued? Yes. Schneider Electric officially discontinued the Wiser Home Controller 2 (5200WHC2) on 2 February 2025, and the original Wiser's Flash-based interface stopped working back in December 2020. Your wired C-Bus network still works — only the control layer has died. Cync Electrical removes the failed Wiser gateway and connects your existing C-Bus to Apple Home, restoring app, remote and voice control without rewiring. We service all of Greater Sydney.

The short version

How your Wiser stopped working

2008 – 2015

Wiser 1 installed everywhere

The original Wiser Home Controller (5200WHC / 5200PG) shipped with thousands of Sydney C-Bus homes. Its app and web interface were built on Adobe Flash.

Dec 2020

Flash retired, Wiser 1 dies

Adobe ended Flash worldwide. Wiser 1 interfaces stopped loading on every modern phone, tablet and browser — the hardware still powers up, but there's nothing to control it with.

2 Feb 2025

Wiser 2 officially discontinued

Schneider Electric formally discontinued the Wiser Home Controller 2 (5200WHC2). No replacement units, no new development — end of the line for the Wiser control layer.

The good news

Only the gateway died. Everything in your walls is fine.

This is the part most Wiser owners aren't told: C-Bus itself is a current, actively supported Schneider product. Your investment in the wiring is safe.

Gone with the Wiser

  • App control from your phone
  • Remote access away from home
  • Schedules & timed scenes set in Wiser
  • Voice control
  • Wiser touchscreen web interface

Still working, still supported

  • Every wall switch, dimmer & keypad
  • All relays and dimmer channels in the switchboard
  • Scenes triggered from wall keypads
  • The C-Bus network itself (pink cable)
  • Your entire wiring investment
What we do

Out with the Wiser, in with Apple Home

We've made this exact swap many times. It's switchboard work and programming — no rewiring, no wall damage, no replacing switches that still work.

Audit & back up your system

We start with a C-Bus Health Audit: we document your network, recover or rebuild the project file, and back everything up before touching anything. You get a clear picture of your system's condition either way.

Remove the dead gateway

The bricked Wiser comes out of the enclosure. In its place we install a current C-Bus network interface and an Apple Home bridge — modern, supported hardware with a future.

Program & hand over

Every room, light and scene appears in the Apple Home app — on iPhone, iPad, Apple Watch, and by asking Siri. Remote access, automations and schedules come back, better than Wiser ever did them.

Questions we get every week

Is C-Bus itself discontinued?
No — and this matters. C-Bus is current, actively supported hardware under Schneider's SpaceLogic range, still being installed in new homes and commercial buildings today. Only the Wiser control layer was discontinued. Anyone telling you the whole system needs ripping out is selling you a rewire you don't need.
Can I keep my existing wall switches and keypads?
Yes. In almost every Wiser upgrade we do, every switch, dimmer and keypad stays exactly where it is and keeps working exactly as it does now. We only replace the failed gateway.
Do I need any rewiring?
No. Your C-Bus pink-cable network is retained as-is. The physical work happens at the switchboard enclosure where the old Wiser lives.
What does it cost?
Every C-Bus site is different, so we quote the upgrade after an audit. Our C-Bus Health Audit is $875, or $1,235 including a full network backup and project file recovery — the usual first step, and worth doing even if you never upgrade. Standard residential systems, Greater Sydney.
Can I use Google Home instead of Apple Home?
Yes, we can bridge C-Bus to Google Home too. We recommend Apple Home for most clients — the interface is cleaner and it ties in beautifully across iPhone, iPad, Apple Watch and Siri — but it's your call.
My Wiser touchscreen is also dead. Can you help with that?
Yes — discontinued C-Touch screens are the other half of this story. We replace them with wall-mounted iPads running the Home app, which look better, cost less than the screens ever did, and never go out of support the same way.
