Cync Electrical is a Sydney electrical contractor specialising in Clipsal C-Bus and smart home automation. We diagnose and repair C-Bus faults — flickering LED downlights, unresponsive keypads, phantom switching, failed dimmer and relay channels, storm damage — and we reprogram scenes, schedules and logic, including recovering lost project files directly from the network.
What separates us from most C-Bus specialists is that we're also licensed electricians (NSW Electrical Contractor Licence 487170C). A programmer-only specialist can diagnose a software fault but can't legally replace a dimmer, relay or power supply — so you need a second trade and a second visit. We do both halves in one visit. Residential diagnosis starts at $295 across Greater Sydney. See our C-Bus services or try the free fault finder.
What's Your System Doing?
The faults Sydney homeowners call us about most. Not sure which one you've got? Our free C-Bus fault finder walks you through it.
Flickering LED Downlights
Extremely common after a halogen-to-LED upgrade. Often a load or dimmer compatibility issue — and on the Northern Beaches, frequently mains signal interference rather than a fault in your system at all.
Why Beaches lights flicker →Dead Keypads or Rooms
No mains power at the unit, low bus voltage from a degrading power supply, a failed output channel, or a network communication fault. We measure rather than guess.
C-Bus fault finding →Lights Switching Themselves
A forgotten schedule, a drifting PIR sensor, a misfiring logic condition — or a non-dimmable fitting wired onto a dimmer by someone unfamiliar with C-Bus.
Book a diagnosis →"You Need a New Power Supply"
Sometimes right — but a system that's run fine for 5+ years hasn't suddenly outgrown its power budget. More often an original supply is underperforming. Worth a second opinion.
Read our take →Failed Touch Screen
Touch screens are among the least reliable C-Bus components. Replacing like-for-like often just restarts the clock — bridging to Apple Home is usually the better option.
Apple Home upgrade →Storm & Lightning Damage
Surges take out power supplies, dimmers and connected equipment like pool controls and underfloor heating. We provide written damage reports for insurance claims.

Specialists, Not Generalists
We built the business around C-Bus. Every technician works with these systems daily — faster diagnosis, cleaner repairs, fewer return visits.
Licensed and Specialist
NSW Electrical Contractor Licence 487170C. We diagnose the software fault and legally replace the hardware in the same visit — not two trades, two visits, two invoices.
Proper Diagnostic Equipment
C-Bus Network Analyser, Traffic Analyser and Diagnostic Utility on every job. That's what separates a 20-minute diagnosis from a three-hour guessing session.
Honest Diagnosis
We won't recommend replacing a system because it's easier than diagnosing one. Second opinions on existing quotes are welcome — and often exactly what's needed.
Transparent Pricing
Residential diagnosis from $295, covering arrival, on-site diagnosis and minor adjustments. Parts quoted before work proceeds. No hidden call-out fees.
Where We Work
Different parts of Sydney throw up different C-Bus problems. These guides cover what we actually see in each region.
C-Bus Northern Beaches
Why LED downlights flicker on the Beaches — the mains interference problem most people get misdiagnosed — plus storm damage, insurance reports, and real jobs from Newport, Cromer and Queenscliff.

The two things C-Bus systems get wrongly blamed for, why a five-year-old system rarely needs another power supply, and real jobs from Vaucluse, Bronte and Bellevue Hill.

Fault Finding & System Stabilisation
We diagnose intermittent faults, offline keypads, scene failures and network issues in legacy and modern C-Bus systems — and recover lost project files directly from the network when the original programmer is long gone.

Residential C-Bus diagnostic and repair visits start from $295 across Greater Sydney, covering arrival, on-site diagnosis and minor adjustments. Many programming faults are resolved within that first visit. Hardware replacement incurs parts costs on top, quoted before any work proceeds. Commercial and strata jobs are quoted on scope before we attend. There are no hidden call-out fees.
Most commonly it follows a halogen-to-LED upgrade. C-Bus dimmers were designed around 50W halogen loads, and LEDs draw a fraction of that — often falling below the dimmer's minimum load threshold. On the Northern Beaches there's an additional cause: mains signal interference that disturbs electronic dimmers, which is frequently misdiagnosed as failed hardware. We cover it in detail on our Northern Beaches C-Bus page.
Usually not. C-Bus is a robust platform and most installed hardware remains serviceable for decades. What typically fails is a single module, a single fitting, or the programming — none of which requires replacing a system. If you've been quoted for a full replacement, it's worth an independent second opinion first. That's the same $295, and considerably cheaper than a replacement you didn't need.
Not usually. In most cases we recover the project file directly from the network by scanning it with C-Bus ToolKit, which gives a complete map of every unit, group address, scene and schedule. We work from that recovered file. Where full recovery isn't possible we rebuild from a site walkthrough. Either way, we leave you with a backup copy so you're not in this position again.
Yes. We bridge existing C-Bus systems into Apple Home, giving you Siri voice control plus iPhone, iPad, Apple Watch and Apple TV access. No switches, dimmers or wiring need replacing — your existing installation keeps working exactly as it does now, with a far better interface on top. It's also the sensible answer when a C-Bus touch screen fails. See our Apple Home upgrade page.
All of Greater Sydney — Northern Beaches, Eastern Suburbs, North Shore, Inner West, the Hills District, Sutherland Shire, Western and South West Sydney, the CBD and Parramatta. We have dedicated guides for the Northern Beaches and Eastern Suburbs covering the specific C-Bus problems we see in those regions.
