HPM iControl is discontinued.
Upgrade to C-Bus, properly.
Stuck dimmer channels, dead keypads, a touch screen that hasn't worked in years. We replace HPM iControl systems with Clipsal C-Bus — reusing your existing cabling wherever possible, and adding Apple Home control.
HPM iControl is a discontinued Australian home automation platform — no spare parts, no manufacturer support, no upgrade path. Cync Electrical replaces iControl systems with Clipsal C-Bus, typically reusing the existing low-voltage cabling, restoring full keypad and dimmer function, and adding Apple Home/Siri control. Fixed-price packages start from $8,000 + GST.
What HPM iControl was — and why it's failing now
A great concept for its time. Now an orphaned platform with no way forward.
HPM iControl
An Australian-designed home automation platform built on DIN-rail dimmer modules (including the CAT H2F2 range), relay outputs, and a proprietary bus network. Widely installed in high-end Sydney homes during the 2000s renovation boom. Manufacturing ceased years ago, and no replacement modules exist.
Why upgrade to C-Bus specifically
C-Bus shares the same fundamental architecture as iControl — DIN-rail modules in the switchboard, low-voltage data cabling to keypads and sensors. That means most of your existing cable runs can be reused, keeping the upgrade faster and less invasive than starting from scratch.
How iControl systems fail
They rarely die all at once. Here's the pattern we see across Sydney homes.
Stuck dimmer channels
CAT H2F2 and similar dimmer modules develop flickering, unresponsive, or fully dead outputs. No replacement modules are manufactured.
Communication faults
The proprietary bus network develops timing errors, dropping keypad commands intermittently and unpredictably.
Dead touch screens
Ageing touch panels lose backlight, freeze, or stop responding entirely — with no parts left to repair them.
No spare parts
iControl hardware was discontinued years ago. Once a module fails, there is no like-for-like replacement available in Australia.
No manufacturer support
Programming files, documentation, and technical support for iControl are effectively unavailable, making diagnosis slow and costly.
Reduced resale appeal
Buyers and agents increasingly flag unsupported automation systems as a defect during sale and pre-purchase inspections.
iControl vs. C-Bus, side by side
| Feature | HPM iControl | Clipsal C-Bus |
|---|---|---|
| Manufacturer support | Discontinued | Active (Schneider Electric) |
| Spare parts availability | None | Stocked Australia-wide |
| Apple Home / Siri control | Not supported | Fully supported |
| Existing cabling reuse | — | Typically yes |
| Local technician availability | Very limited | Widely supported |
| Resale / compliance perception | Often flagged | Recognised standard |

What clients say
Our iControl system had been dying for years. Cync replaced everything with C-Bus and now it all works through our phones — should have done it sooner.
Professional from quote to handover. They kept most of our existing cabling, which saved a lot of disruption.
Finally have working keypads again. Apple Home integration was the bonus we didn't know we needed.
Frequently asked questions
No. HPM iControl is discontinued. No replacement dimmer or relay modules are manufactured, and no official technical support is available in Australia.
In most homes, yes. iControl and C-Bus both use DIN-rail modules and low-voltage data cabling, so the existing cable runs to keypads and sensors can typically be reused.
Fixed-price packages start from $8,000 + GST for smaller homes and scale with circuit count, keypads, and touch screens. An exact quote follows a site assessment.
Yes. C-Bus integrates with Apple Home through a local hub, giving full control via iPhone, iPad, Apple Watch, and Siri, with automations running locally.
A typical home with 20–40 circuits takes two to four days on site, including module replacement, reprogramming, testing, and handover.
